Terms of Use
FPS Docs Helper · Fairfield Public Schools
Effective October 21, 2026
These terms cover FPS Docs Helper, a Chrome extension that shows how a Google Docs document was written — its revisions, typing time, deletions, text pasted in from outside, and a step-by-step replay — from the document’s own version history. Fairfield Public Schools (“FPS”, “the District”, “we”) provides it.
1. Who may use it
FPS Docs Helper is for teachers reviewing student writing in Google Docs, using District accounts on District-managed browsers and devices. It is not licensed for any other organisation or use.
2. District policies come first
Using the extension is subject to the District’s Acceptable Use Policy, the student handbook, the 1:1 device agreement and other Board of Education policies. If these terms conflict with a Board policy, the Board policy controls.
3. Your responsibilities
- Use the extension only with your own District account, and only as District policy allows.
- Do not try to disable, remove, modify, reverse engineer or interfere with the extension, or to use it to get around District controls.
- Treat the Paste & AI review as a reason to look closer, not as a finding. Do not discipline a student, or record that a student cheated, on its results alone.
- Look at a student’s document only for a District educational purpose, as you would through Google Classroom.
4. About this extension
FPS Docs Helper estimates how a document was written from Google’s version history. Version history can be incomplete — for example when text was written in another app and pasted, when a document was copied from a template, or when Google merged many small edits — so every figure is an estimate.
5. Updates and availability
The District may update the extension automatically, may require a minimum version, and may switch off a version that is out of date or the extension as a whole (for example while a problem is fixed). When that happens the extension says so instead of working. We aim to keep it working but do not guarantee uninterrupted operation.
6. Ownership
The extension and its content belong to Fairfield Public Schools or its licensors. You may use them only as these terms and District policy allow.
7. No warranty
The extension is provided “as is” for the District’s educational and operational use. To the fullest extent the law allows, the District disclaims all warranties, express or implied, and is not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages from using it or being unable to use it. Nothing in these terms waives any immunity or limitation available to the District under Connecticut law.
8. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Connecticut, without regard to its conflict of laws rules.
9. Changes to these terms
We may revise these terms by posting the new version on this page with a new effective date. Continuing to use the extension after a change means accepting the revised terms.
